How to pack a suit

Traveling for work can stir up a mix of excitement and stress, especially if you’re headed to a crucial meeting or event where first impressions matter. You’ve picked out the perfect suit, but the thought of packing it without wrinkling drives you a little wild. Whether you’re catching a flight or taking a weekend road trip, you want your attire to look sharp when you step off the plane or out of the car. So how can you expertly pack your suit to ensure you arrive looking polished and professional?

To pack a suit, begin by using a suit bag or garment bag. Lay the suit jacket flat and turn the shoulders inside out to protect the fabric, then fold the sleeves back. For trousers, fold them in half, then roll them to minimize creasing. Place both items in the garment bag, using tissue paper to fill any gaps and prevent wrinkles. Finally, ensure the bag is securely closed and kept upright during travel.

Next, take your trousers and fold them in half lengthwise. To minimize creases further, roll the trousers gently from the waistband down to the cuffs. This rolling technique is often more effective than simply folding, as it reduces the chance of deep wrinkles setting in. After you’ve rolled your trousers, place them into the suit bag first. Next, carefully lay the jacket over the trousers, ensuring it covers them completely to protect both pieces.

To further safeguard your suit, consider incorporating some acid-free tissue paper. You can place sheets inside the jacket and across the trousers to fill any gaps and help maintain their shape while also reducing wrinkles. Once everything is neatly arranged, close your garment bag securely. Make sure to keep the bag upright during your journey and avoid overpacking, as this can cause unnecessary compression and damage to your suit. By taking these steps, you can travel with confidence knowing your suit will look impeccable when you arrive at your destination.
