How to split screen
UncategorizedHave you ever found yourself in the middle of a critical project, juggling multiple applications and struggling to switch between them? Perhaps you’re working on a presentation while simultaneously gathering data from a website, and you wish you could see both at once without constantly toggling back and forth. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone! Many users want to maximize their productivity by utilizing split-screen functionality, allowing them to work more efficiently. In this post, we will break down how to split screen on various devices to help you make the most of your workspace.
To split screen on a Windows PC, open the first application, then drag it to the left or right edge of the screen until you see an outline. Release it, and then select the second application to fill the other half of the screen. On macOS, you can click and hold the green full-screen button on the top left of a window, then choose either the left or right side of the screen. For Android, open the first app, press the Recent Apps button, and then tap the icon of the app you want to split-screen with. On iOS, swipe up from the bottom to open the dock; drag the second app from the dock to the edge of the screen.
To elaborate on the split-screen process:
On Windows: You can easily enable split-screen by using keyboard shortcuts. Simply press the Windows key + Left Arrow or Right Arrow to snap the window to either side of the screen. After positioning the first window, Windows will present you with thumbnails of the other open applications. Click on the one you want to fill the other half of the display. This feature is beneficial for multitasking, as it allows you to compare documents side-by-side or reference an application while working in another.
On macOS: The split view mode is accessible through the green button in the upper left corner of a window. By holding the button, you can view two applications simultaneously. After choosing the side for the first window, the other half becomes available for selection with your opened applications, making it a seamless experience to work between two tasks effectively.
On Android: For devices running Android 7.0 Nougat or higher, simply open the first app and then press the Recent Apps button (the square or two overlapping rectangles). Tap on the app icon at the top of the app’s card and select “Split Screen”. Then, pick your second app from the list. This functionality is excellent for simultaneously chatting and browsing or streaming content while taking notes.
On iOS: With the iPad, you can easily split the screen between apps. Open a primary app, and then swipe up from the bottom of your screen to reveal the dock. Drag the second app from the dock toward the left or right edge of your current app’s screen. With Split View, you can choose to give each app equal space or adjust their sizes by dragging the divider.
By utilizing these techniques, you can vastly improve your workflow and accomplish tasks more efficiently across your devices.
