How to apply eyeshadow

Uncategorized

To apply eyeshadow, start by prepping your eyelids with an eye primer to create a smooth base. Then, using a fluffy brush, apply a neutral shade across your eyelid as a transition color. Next, select a darker shade to define the crease of your eye, using a smaller brush for precision. Blend the colors together to eliminate harsh lines, and finish by adding a pop of highlight to the brow bone and inner corner of your eye. Finally, consider using eyeliner and mascara to complete the look.

Once your base is ready, choose an eyeshadow palette that suits the look you’re going for–whether it’s natural, smoky, or colorful. The first color you’ll apply is usually a neutral shade, which acts as a good transition color that allows the other shades to blend seamlessly. With a fluffy brush, sweep this neutral color across your entire eyelid, right up to the brow bone.

Next, it’s time to add depth and dimension. Pick a slightly darker shade to define the crease of your eye; using a smaller, tapered brush will provide precision. Apply this color gently in a windshield-wiper motion within the crease until you achieve the desired intensity. Remember, blending is key! Use the fluffy brush to smooth out any harsh lines between the colors.

After your crease is defined, you can add a darker shade to the outer corner of your eye for added drama. This technique creates what is often referred to as a “v” shape. Blend it inwards towards the middle of your eyelid. For brighter and more impactful colors, consider applying a shimmer or metallic shade to the center of your eyelid with a flat brush, which can really make your look pop.

To finish the eyeshadow application, apply a highlighter to your brow bone and inner corners to make your eyes appear more awake and bright. If desired, you can also add eyeliner along your lash line and top off with a few coats of mascara for a complete look. With practice and experimentation, you’ll find the techniques and color combinations that work best for you!
