How to change windshield wipers

Uncategorized

It’s an overcast Saturday morning, and as you prepare to run errands, you notice your windshield wipers are streaking instead of clearing the rain from your windshield. Frustration mounts as you realize they haven’t been effective for quite some time. With the weather forecast predicting heavy rain later in the day, you’re left wondering how to tackle this task yourself. Fortunately, changing your windshield wipers is a straightforward process that can save you both time and money.

To change your windshield wipers, lift the wiper arm away from the windshield, press the tab on the wiper blade to release it, and slide it off the arm. Then, slide the new wiper blade onto the arm until it clicks into place before lowering the arm back onto the windshield.

Changing windshield wipers is a simple task, and there are just a few steps you need to follow. First, gather your materials: new windshield wiper blades compatible with your vehicle and possibly a towel to avoid scratches on the windshield. Start by lifting the wiper arm away from the glass–most arms will hold in place when lifted about 90 degrees.

Next, locate the small tab on the wiper blade where it connects to the wiper arm. Press this tab to release the blade; it may require a bit of force. Once you’ve detached the old blade, align the new wiper blade with the wiper arm and slide it on until you hear a click, which indicates it’s securely attached.

Before completing the process, ensure the blade is the correct size for your vehicle. Different vehicles have different lengths of blades, so checking your owner’s manual or measuring the old blades may be necessary.

Finally, gently lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield. Repeat this process for the other wiper blade, as it’s often a good idea to replace both at the same time to maintain optimal performance. Once finished, take a moment to test your new wipers by activating them and ensuring they clear the windshield effectively. And just like that, you’re ready to drive safely in inclement weather!
