How to fix a hole in the wall

We’ve all been there–a guest is about to arrive, and you notice an unsightly hole in the wall that you’ve meant to fix for ages. Perhaps it’s the result of a furniture mishap, or maybe it’s a remnant from that impulsive DIY project gone wrong. In a rush to create a welcoming environment, thoughts of quick fixes and effective repairs flood your mind. To fix a hole in the wall, first clean the area around the hole, then use a putty knife to apply spackle or joint compound. Smooth the surface, let it dry, and sand it until it’s level with the wall. Finally, paint over the patch to match the surrounding area.

To elaborate, begin by assessing the size of the hole–small ones (like nail holes) can often be quickly fixed with spackle, while larger holes (more than a few inches) may require a more involved repair.
